Built in 1779, during the reign of the last Polish King, Stanisław August, the church is a traditional log construction with protruding eaves, and the north-facing presbytery. Originally, it was erected in Przyszowice near Rybnik, but in 1957–1958 it was transferred to the Istebna region. The church had been decorated with religious sculptures and paintings including the eighteenth-century statue of St John Nepomucene and the “Flagellation of Christ” painting. The major points of interest are the altarpiece with the eighteenth-century painting featuring the Crucifixion of Jesus, the statue of God the Father, and sculptures of angels as well as an elaborate baroque pulpit (1697) featuring bass-reliefs of the four Evangelists, the figure of Christ, the sculpture of the Holy Spirit and pictures portraying St Augustine and St Jerome.
